What is considered a Commercial Shredder?

We get many e-mails and phone calls from customers looking for a “commercial paper shredder”. Defining a commercial shredder is as often said in the eye of the beholder. Many customers have disappointing results purchasing paper shredders from the super- stores and are looking for a shredder that is durable, and have a long lifespan. We define a commercial paper shredder as a centralized
shredder that different departments will bring their documents to be destroyed.

A commercial shredder should have a large feed opening and the ability to shred 30 or more sheets per pass.  A continuous duty motor is standard so overheating is not a concern. Non-commercial shredders use motors requiring a “cooling off” period so if a shredder denotes anything other than a continuous duty motor, it can not be considered a commercial unit.
